Dr. Pushpak Jagtap is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Cyber-Physical Systems and in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. He leads the Formal Control and Autonomous Systems (FOCAS) Lab, where his research focuses on the intersection of control theory, formal methods, robotics, and machine learning. Dr. Jagtap received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Prior to joining IISc, he held postdoctoral positions at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and LMU Munich in Germany, and he was a visiting researcher at various prestigious institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania in the USA, Newcastle University in the UK, and L2S–CNRS in France. Dr. Jagtap holds an MTech Degree in Systems and Control from IIT Roorkee and a B.E. in Instrumentation Engineering from Mumbai University. He was a recipient of the prestigious Google India Research Award in 2021 and has published several papers in top-tier journals and conferences.
His research focuses on the formal analysis and synthesis of control systems, nonlinear control, and learning-based control, with applications in robotics and cyber-physical systems.
